This BA Falcon ute came into the Noizee Engineering workshop for a six-point Motorsport Australia national-level roll cage as part of a dedicated rally build.

A ute cab doesn't exactly give you acres of room to work with, and that was the main challenge on this one. With limited space inside the cabin, the cage needed to be designed and fabricated around the BA rather than trying to make a generic setup fit.

The result was a clean, purpose-built rally cage that gave the car what it needed without overcomplicating the build.

A rally car has a very different job ahead of it to a street car.

For this BA, the cage was being built as part of a genuine competition setup, so the focus was on getting the fabrication right and building around the available space inside the ute.

There weren't a heap of additional fabrication jobs added to this one. It was simply about building the cage the car needed and doing it properly.

Making a Cage Work in a Tight Cab

The biggest consideration with this build was space.

Unlike a stripped-out hatch or sedan, there's only so much room to work with inside a Falcon ute cab. Every section of tube needs to be positioned with the available cabin space in mind.

That's where having the cage custom fabricated makes sense.

Instead of starting with a pre-made cage and trying to make the vehicle work around it, the cage was measured and built specifically for the BA shell.

Tight space. Clean fitment. No unnecessary mucking around.
