The build
This Hyundai i30 N hatch came into the Noizee Engineering workshop for a six-point Motorsport Australia national-level weld-in roll cage as part of its preparation for Production Touring.
A newer performance car might be a very different starting point to some of the older Hondas, Falcons and Pulsars we work on, but the approach is the same, build the cage around the actual car, it's intended use and the requirements of the category.
For this i30 N, the job was kept focused. No unnecessary extras. Just a properly fabricated national-level cage fitted to the shell and ready for the next stage of the race-car build.

Built for Production Touring
This i30 N wasn't getting a cage for looks.
The car was being prepared for Production Touring, so the cage needed to suit a genuine competition build and work within the modern i30 N shell.
There wasn't a long list of additional fabrication required on this particular job. The focus was on doing the cage itself properly, accurate fitment, clean fabrication and a finished setup ready for the rest of the car to be built around.
Custom Fit to the i30 N
A weld-in cage gives us the ability to fabricate around the actual shell rather than relying on a generic bolt-in setup.
Every section is positioned and fitted specifically to the vehicle before being welded into place.
That matters in a race car. You want the cage sitting where it needs to sit without creating unnecessary compromises for the rest of the build.
For this Hyundai, that meant keeping things clean and purposeful and giving the owner a solid starting point for the Production Touring setup.
Clean, Purpose-Built Fabrication
Not every build needs to be complicated to be worth showing.
This i30 N is a good example of what a dedicated weld-in motorsport cage should look like when the brief is kept simple.
No fabrication added just to make the job look bigger.
